How much do company drivers make?
Our OTR drivers start out at 36 cents per mile. We also pay for unloading, stops, drops, detention, and layover. An FST OTR driver can expect to earn $50,000 or more in the first year. Our regional drivers start out at 34 cents per mile. We also pay for unloading, stops, drops, detention, and layover. An FST regional driver can expect to earn $40,000 or more in the first year.

How often do your drivers get home?
Our drivers are home weekly. While most drivers are home on the weekends, some routes require home time be at times other than the weekend. We ensure our drivers get quality home time on a consistent basis.

What benefits do you offer and how soon do they go into effect?
FST offers medical, dental, prescription and company-paid life benefits to you after your first 30 days on the job. We have many affordable optional benefits, too, including short-term disability insurance. We also offer paid time off after 90 days, and your eligible to join our 401(k) program (which has a generous matching contribution) after just one month.

What is a "transition bonus"?
A transition bonus is a $1,000 hiring bonus we pay to our new OTR drivers.

How often do you pay your drivers?
We pay our drivers weekly on Friday for any work performed the previous week. We also offer direct deposit at no charge.

Does FST offer any type of safety bonus?
We offer a generous safety bonus for company drivers who perform their duties in a safe manner. The bonus amounts to 5% of your base salary every 6 months.

What type of equipment do you operate?
Our tractors are Freightliner Century Class and FLD120 with Condo Sleepers, and our trailers are 48' and 53' Dry Vans and Reefers.

In what areas of the country do you operate?
We primarily operate from the eastern seaboard to the Mississippi River. We have some loads going west of the Mississippi, but not with any frequency. We have no west coast loads, and we have no forced dispatch to New York City.

How much experience do you require of your drivers?
We require at least 2 years of verifiable OTR experience operating a combination vehicle.

How many moving violations do you allow?
In order to be considered for a company driver position you should have no more that 3 violations in a 3-year period. You may not have any violations for excessive speed (defined as 15 MPH or more over the speed limit), DUI or reckless operation.

Do you require any endorsements on your drivers’ licenses?
We require all FST drivers to have a Haz-Mat endorsement.

Are drivers required to unload freight?
Many of our customers have unloading requirements. You will be paid for any unloading you are required to do. If a location has lumpers available, we will utilize their services.

How many months out of the year can I expect to work?
We provide steady, year-round work. At FST you can expect to work 12 months out of the year.

Do you run team operations?
At this time, we do not run teams.

Do you have a driver referral program?
We do. After you’re employed with FST, if you refer a driver and we hire them, you will receive a $500 referral bonus. Both you and the referred driver must be employed here at the time of the bonus payout.
